The first picture is torn pieces of colored construction paper. I mean seriously?
The second consists of acrylic or oil paint (even oil crayons) and scribbling away. Smaller pictures are often easier and more budget friendly. I'm making one to add a pop of color to a book shelf.
Walmart has great cheap frames for this type of project.
